Report: Game number 12 for the season ended in a 2-3 loss to
the division leaders, the Relics.

On another hot day in Marin our guys did a great job
against the Relics. Especially the first 15 min. of
the game was impressive from our guys. Couldn’t tell
that this was a game between the top and bottom team
in the divison. We marked well and our guys were
aggressive on every play, and never let their great
individual skills shine through. Our boys produced 2-3
really good chances in the first half, but Relics
slowly took control of the game. They scored two goals
before the first half was over. The first on a great
shot from long range, the second on a shot that
deflected off one of our guys. 2-0 Relics at half
time.

Second half was more uneven, but very entertaining at
the end. The Relics controlled the half. They scored
one more midway through the half and should have
scored a couple more on one of their many attacks.
Matt S. made a couple of nice stops in our goal, and
their shooting wasn’t on target. We didn’t really
produce that many chances in the second half, until
the end of the half. 10.min before the end, Brian
Burns sent Chris through their defense and Chris
scored on a nice shot. This really woke our players
up, and we pressed hard for another goal. 5 min. later
we got a second goal, when Gil’s nice cross found
Thorsten on the far post, who headed in a great goal
for us. Just before the end we had  a great chance to
tie the game, but it ended in a 2-3 loss. Great
comeback guys. Had the game been 5 min. longer I think
we would have tied the game.

Since San Geronimo lost big in their game, we crawled
out of last place even without taking a point in this
game.

Our 13 players were: Alan, Barry, Brian B., Carlo,
Chris, Ed, Gil, Ismael, Matt I., Matthew S., Patrick
J., Rio, Thorsten,
