» Can I come play?

New / prospective players are welcome to come out to any Spikes practice.ÂPotential new members are allowed to practice with the Club for up to 3 practices complimentary before they are asked to decide if they’d like to join the Club or not.

» What should I bring?

For indoor practices, bring sneakers (preferably indoor soccer shoes), that have a flat sole which is not black.  We play on a gym floor surface during our winter indoor practices.  Bring shin guards, and something to drink, though there is a water fountain there.

For outdoor practices, bring regular cleats (turf shoes and  screw-ins are not recommended for this pitch), shin guards, and something to drink.

What should I expect at a Spikes practice?

During the winter / indoor practices, we just play short-sided games.  Typically you'll play 2 back-to-back 5 minute games of 5v5 indoor soccer with small goals, and no goalie.  You'll then rotate off for 5-15 min of rest depending on how many players are there that night.  That might not seem like much, but it's quite a workout.

During the regular season / outdoor practies, we divide into 2 separate practices, one for the Marin Team, and one for the SF team & other club members. Both practices are structured similarly, though the Marin practice is more intense.  A typical practice begins with a warm-up, stretching, then a run.  We then do skills & drills work, some sprints (gotta get in / stay in shape), and typically end with a scrimmage.
