Our guys took control early on and totally dominated
the game for 90 minutes. We had several chances the
first 20 minutes, and with some luck and better
directions on our shots we could have been up by 2-3
goals early in the half. Against the play, UCA took a
1-0 lead after 25.min., when one of their guys found
the corner of our goal behind Matthew, on a nice shot
from long distance. Our guys kept pushing for a goal
and continued to dominate the play and got a deserved
and important equalizer 10 min. later. Ed’s long cross
was headed towards their goal by Barry, and Chris was
there to put the ball in their goal from close range.

Second half started great for us. After 2-3 minutes of
the half, Chuck passed back to Thorsten, who fired the
ball over their goalie into their net, to give our
guys a deserved lead. This set the tone for the rest
of the game. We continued to play well and created a
lot of chances. Our defense was rock solid, and UCA’s
only chances in the second half was a couple of shots
from a distance, that Matthew easily took care of. We
waited until 15 min. before the end before we killed
off the game with a 3rd goal. Gil sent a nice cross
from the wing that Chris headed into the corner of
their goal. About 5.min. later we got another goal.
Bob sent a nice long pass to Thorsten, who put the
ball controlled behind their goalie. Final score 4-1

This was our best season opener since 1999, and
hopefully a sign of more to come for the Mo’s.
It was a great team effort. A special thank you and
welcome goes to our two debutants, York and Bobby.
