UCA
W 3-1
Report:Game number 19 for the season ended with a 3-1 win
over UCA.

First half started a bit slow for our guys. We let UCA
control the game at times the first 25 minutes. UCA
took a 1-0 lead 15. minutes into the half. A quickly
taken throw-in,   found an open man in front of
Matthew in our goal, before our defense got organized.
We started to work ourselves into the game, but it
didn’t look good for us when UCA was awarded a
questionable penalty kick after 25. minutes. But we
had the  man of the match on our team today, and
Matthew saved a well taken penalty and kept our team
in the game. We started to push forward and created
more chances the last 20 minutes of the half. 5
minutes before halftime, Bob sent a long pass towards
their goalie that it didn’t look like anyone but their
goalie would reach. Chris kept chasing the ball
though, and his hussling forced the goalie to give the
ball away, and Chris put the ball in the open net. His
6th league goal of the season. 1-1 at half time.

Second half produced a lot better play from our guys.
We were the best team throughout the half, and moved
the ball well, and kept pushing for the leading goal.
We got our deserved second goal after 20 minutes of
the half. Thorsten’s powerful shot from outside their
penalty box, left their goalie without a chance as the
ball hit the net in the upper corner. We kept
producing chances, and our defense controlled things
in the back and Matthew saved whatever came his way.
It looked like UCA would get a break though, when they
again was awarded a questionable penalty kick 25.
minutes into the half. However, Matthew was there
again to save another well taken penalty!  We finally
put the game away 5 minutes before the end. Thorsten’s
freekick  went through their defense and found the net
in the lower corner.  Final score 3-1 Spikes.

Great team effort again, but as I said before, with 2
saved penalty kicks in the same game, Matthew was
defiantly “the man of the match”.

Our 13 players were:  Adel, Barry, Bob, Brian B.,
Carlo, Chris, Ed, Gil, Ismael, Karl, Matthew S.,
Patrick J., Thorsten.

We have taken 10 points the last 4 games and passed
one team in the standings with this win. 3 of those 4
games have been against the top 3 teams in our
division, so not easy opponents either. 2 games left
of the season, and we are going for 6 points.
