Welcome to the San Francisco Spikes Soccer Club

The San Francisco Spikes is a
predominantly gay non-profit social organization which provides an opportunity to play soccer in a positive and friendly environment. We field two soccer teams that compete in local leagues: the Marin Soccer League and the San Francisco Soccer Football League.  We are part of IGLFA (the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association) and compete in the annual IGLFA World Cup and the Quadrennial Gay Games, as well as other gay soccer tournaments within the United States and around the world.

Spikes III vs the rest of us Spikes - Wednesday, March 03, 2010

On Sunday, March 13, from 1-3 pm Spikes III (Spikes Vice) has reserved the pitch at Silver Terrace playground for a friendly club scrimmage.  If you'd like to play, email Dave Collins at dwcollins@gmail.com to reserve a spot on the challengers squad. We're also looking for a volunteer to referee the game for us. It's a turf field, so the game will be played rain or shine. Directions to Silver Terrace can be found hereGo Spikes!

Spikes II Season Update: 3 W's in a row! - Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Spikes II has began its season in the Sports4Good league in late January, and we've finally found our groove.  After a heart-breaking loss in our season opener in the last 20 seconds of the game, we fought hard but came up short in the next two games leaving us frustrated at 0-3.  Undeterred, Spikes II stormed back in Game #4 to earn its first W of the season 3-1.  Game #5 was 5-1 stomping of our hapless opponent, and some of the prettiest soccer we've played in SF. Game #6 ended 3-1 for our 3rd victory in a row, and could easily have been more.  We've got a bye this Sunday, and play our last game of the first half of our season on Sunday March 14.  Come cheer us on, as we try to head into the mid-season playoffs on a 4 game win streak. Go Spikes!

Spikes II Team meeting - Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Spikes II will meet tonight to discuss coaching, team management and roster selection for the rest of the season here in SF, as well as the Gay Games in Germany later this summer.  We're getting together at Brian Cox's home: 148 Lower Terrace, San Francisco, CA 94114 at 7:30 pm tonight. Public transportation is very close by. It's a 10-15 minute walk up 17th Street from the Castro underground stop, a few blocks from the 33 and half a block from the 37. Parking is generally pretty easy too. All Spikes are invited to this meeting and you're encouraged to attend if you have an interest in participating on the second team. Go Spikes!

Spikes I Season Update - Wednesday, March 03, 2010

A group of Spikes I players have been keeping active this off-season competing in a NorCal Athletics 8v8 league on Tuesday nights. The league is highly competitive, and has helped us play fast, controlled soccer, and improve our conditioning.  Last night we finished our regular season games with a fantastic 4-0 win over a strong opponent, playing some of the best soccer I've ever seen the Spikes play. That W earned us a spot in the playoffs next Tuesday night.  Spikes I regular season will begin in Marin on Saturday April 3, and run through August.  Go Spikes!
